General Information
Nectir AI revolutionizes education by empowering educators to create personalized AI Assistants tailored to their curriculum, providing 24/7 guidance through interactive conversations. Seamlessly integrated into the LMS, these AI Assistants offer instant feedback, clarify concepts, and identify knowledge gaps, enhancing learning outcomes while reducing educator workload.
By leveraging advanced language models like GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 in a secure, FERPA-compliant environment, students benefit from continuous support, building deeper comprehension and confidence. Educators can offload repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on more meaningful activities. This innovative platform redefines the modern classroom, making it the ultimate win-win for both students and educators.
Nectir AI can support these languages:
- English
- French
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- German
- Italian
- Turkish
- Japanese
- Chinese
- Vietnamese
- Korean
- Russian
- Persian
- Arabic
- Urdu
- Hindi
- Marathi
- Tamil
- Telugu
- Gujarati
This multilingual support allows Nectir AI to effectively serve diverse student populations and international educational environments.
Language capabilities are based on the underlying model’s training data, which means that performance may vary. Less common languages with smaller amounts of training data may have lower accuracy or more limited capabilities compared to widely-spoken languages.
Short Answer - No it will not, if designed correctly!
Long Answer - In each Assistant’s settings, you can modify the Assistant’s prompt to instruct how the AI responds and behaves when responding to inquiries. This is where you can fully customize how the AI Assistant behaves and set guardrails for behaviors you want it to avoid.
We recommend you start with one of our template prompts. Next, test your Assistant by asking it student questions and see what you think about the Assistant’s response. If you like it, great! If not, you can go back to the prompt to add specific directions to create the response/behavior you would like to see.
For example, if you do not want the AI to complete student work, you can add directions like these suggestions to your prompt:
- “If a student asks for help, ask them what they already know before offering support.”
- “If a student asks you to write for them, let them know you cannot help them write and give them hints on how to get started.”
- “If a student is stuck and needs help, break down the problem into steps for them to complete but do not provide the solution”

Nectir AI offers one-to-one conversations between the user and the Assistant. Any user with access to a workspace can utilize their assistants at any time, as often as they would like. There is no limit to the number of users using it simultaneously.
Assistant Setup and Capabilities
In each Assistant’s settings, you can upload an unlimited number of files regarding your course like: course syllabus, course assignments, lecture slides, rubrics, etc.
Nectir AI Assistants can be trained on any files in the formats listed below. Since videos are not yet supported, we recommend uploading the text transcript instead. We are actively working to add more media-related capabilities.
Learn more about uploading training data here!
Since only instructors (Owners) have the ability to upload and view training documents, it is their responsibility to ensure that copyrighted material is not shared with the assistant without proper authorization.
We recommend using OER (Open Educational Resources) for now. Any other materials you choose to upload are at your discretion. Rest assured, all uploaded data will remain private and accessible only to you.
Note: Your uploaded training materials are securely stored and never shared or used to train AI models. They will only be utilized within the scope of your AI Assistant.
Currently, Nectir AI can only be trained with documents or images. To train your assistant on a video, we recommend you upload a transcript of the video for similar results.
Yes, only Owners and Editors of a course will have access to see the training files you upload to your AI Assistant. Students (Members) do not have access to the training data you upload.
No, the AI Assistant does not have internet access. While the LLM has been trained on a vast array of information, it cannot browse the internet.
If there are specific websites you would like AI to be knowledgeable about, you can upload the HTML or PDF exports of those websites as your training materials.
If you want the Assistant to simply share the link to the user, include the link in your training materials so the AI can pull that information.
(For example: Include a link to your textbook in your course syllabus)
Technical Information
We offer both OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 models, hosted through secure endpoints. You can choose which model to use for your AI Assistants through our Advanced Features settings. Your data is not shared with these companies and is not used to train any models.
Yes, we offer LTI integration with most LMS platforms. The integration allows users to easily navigate to Nectir directly from their LMS course page. It also allows for roster sync, so any user within the integrated courses will automatically have an account provisioned in Nectir.

Speech-to-text/text-to-speech functionality is on the roadmap and something we want to build soon!
Data, Privacy, and Security
Conversations are private to the individual user and are never shared. The user has the ability to rename and export any previous conversations by accessing their chat history if they would like to share conversations with others.
However, instructors can leverage the Analytics Dashboard to gather insights on how users are engaging with their AI Assistants. Currently, the dashboard focuses primarily on usage data but we are looking to add more metrics soon!
User data is securely stored and never shared with third parties. While personally identifiable information may be stored for moderation and safety purposes, only anonymized data is used for product improvements.
Yes, while FERPA is mainly interpreted by each university, we are able to comply with all major FERPA requirements.
Yes, Nectir AI is fully accessible according to WCAG 2.2 and Section 508 standards. You can request a copy by visiting our Trust Center here.
We leverage secure sandboxed endpoints for both GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 to power Nectir AI Assistants. This ensures no data is shared with third parties or used to train any models. This approach makes our platform more secure than going directly to consumer services like ChatGPT or Claude.
Nectir securely stores all uploaded materials and never shares information with third parties. We also host our own language model endpoints so that none of your information is shared with third-party companies like OpenAI or Anthropic.
