Knowledge scope is the range and extent of information the Assistant can access and understand. It encompasses the topics, domains, and types of knowledge the Assistant is trained on and can provide assistance with, including its ability to retrieve, interpret, and apply relevant information to answer questions or perform tasks effectively.

Training data is the collection of examples used to train an AI assistant on how to support users effectively. For educators, this could include a variety of educational materials, such as lesson plans, homework assignments, quizzes, student interactions, rubrics, and feedback. By providing this data, the Assistant can learn to understand educational content, anticipate student needs, offer personalized assistance, and respond accurately to student queries, thereby enhancing the learning experience.

  1. Click next to the Assistant's name to access assistant settings.

  2. Click on the " Knowledge" in thea sidebar.

  3. Select either "General knowledge", "Limited knowledge", or "Document only" scope for your Assistant.

    • General knowledge: This knowledge scope includes your documents along with the full breadth of knowledge from the GPT-4 language model.

    • Limited knowledge: This includes your documents and limits the knowledge of your Assistant to only topics directly related to your uploaded documents.

    • Document only: This scopes your Assistant's knowledge to only the information in the documents you upload. It does not have access to outside knowledge.

    • 💡Tip: If you are unsure which knowledge scope best suits your needs, we encourage you to make an Assistant using each type and verify which scope provides the results that best suit your learning objectives.

  4. Click “Save changes”.

  5. Click “Upload training data” to upload any relevant documents for your Assistant to learn.

    • **Note: If your knowledge scope is set to "Document only" and no documents are uploaded, your Assistant will not have access to any knowledge.
